Once upon a snowy day in Medford, Massachusetts, James Pierpont was tasked with creating a catchy tune for a Thanksgiving service. As he gazed out the window and saw young folks sled down hills, his heart danced with joy. Inspired, he dashed to a piano, composed a melody, and titled it “One Horse Open Sleigh.” The song became a hit, and people loved it so much that it sneaked into Christmas celebrations. In 1857, James published the song, which transformed into the beloved “Jingle Bells.” And that, my friends, is how a Thanksgiving ditty raced into our hearts as a Christmas classic!
